SkillsActive’s successful bid to establish England’s first ever Group Training Association (GTA) for the sector offers further opportunities for National Skills Academy contracted training providers. It is still business as usual for Skills Active and the National Skills Academy for Sport and Active Leisure, but you will notice a few changes over the coming months as we develop what we can offer and work the GTA into a new SkillsActive. To keep you updated on these changes, we’ve put together a few FAQs on how these changes may relate to your organisation. I am an approved provider of the National Skills Academy for Sport & Active Leisure – what do I need to do to become part of the GTA? Nothing! If you have a current Skills Academy contract, you will have priority for any opportunities that arise within your field. My contract is up for renewal soon – what should I do? First, complete our consultation survey to have your say in the future of SkillsActive’s offer to training providers. Then, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. My courses are currently listed on the Skills Academy website – what will happen when the website changes? We have been working hard to ensure your organisation is visible on our new site. Each training provider will be given their own dedicated page to spotlight their organisation and to list the current courses that they have available. Training provider pages will be linked from many different areas of the site, including additional content from the current SkillsActive site. As we strive to reach more and more people through the web, your exposure will only keep increasing. Do I need to do anything to make sure my organisation is listed on the new site? Don’t worry – the content on your current provider page on the Skills Academy website will automatically be placed on the new site. However, this is a great opportunity to review your content and provide us with updated information which reflects why your training is great for employers in our sector. It is also a great time to send us an up-to-date list of the training courses that you are currently contracted to offer. Please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. What will happen to my course detail pages? To ensure that we are only listing the most up to date course information, we are changing how these are listed to ensure that website users can easily find the most relevant information. This means that when someone searches for a particular course, they will find details of your company and a list of all courses you offer, as opposed to just one course listing. These search functions will be further developed over the coming months as we continue to improve upon our offer. Our ultimate aim is to allow you control over your provider page, giving you the opporrtunity to update your content simply and sell your training as effectively as possible. Look out for further information about these developments in the coming months. What else can I become involved with? Another great opportunity for approved providers are the Explore Sport events, which are part of the Change Gear programme. Showcasing the opportunities available in the sector to those leaving the Armed Forces, we are keen for the training providers we work with to come along and provide more information about what they can offer. This is a great chance to promote your training to a large number of talented, motivated individuals who are keen to find an exciting new career. These events are held on a monthly basis.
