The course will give an awareness of safe working practices and an update on legislation and reporting requirements This is a 3 Hour Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course and suitable both as an introduction to the subject, and as an update for those who already have some knowledge and experience in this area.

The training provider, Aquila Alternatives, specialise in safeguarding and managing challenging behaviour with the most vulnerable and challenging young people in social care, outdoor and education environments.

16 Hour ITC Certificate in Outdoor First Aid

This course uses the ‘see it, do it, review it’ learning style, so lots of involvement and activity! We will look at real life situations that a coach or instructor may encounter and then fill your First Aid tool box with practical and efficient solutions. The course is suitable for all outdoor instructors and coaches (e.g. holders of WGL, ML, CWA, SPA, MIC, MIA, MBLA, BCU, RYA, British Cycling, BOF coaching qualifications). The course is comprised of two units. Unit 1 is the Emergency First Aid at Work qualification, which meets HSE statutory regulated EFAW requirements. Unit 2 is the First Aid for Outdoor Incident Management Unit. Together this 16 hour course meets all the National Governing Bodies first aid requirements.


The two trainers are from the Adventure Sports Department at Reaseheath College. They have over 50 years of combined experience of in the outdoor and sports sector, as well as training and assessing for coaching qualifications. They have been trained by ITC to provide HSE certified First Aid.
