Apprenticeship Expansion Programme
What is the Apprenticeship Expansion Programme?
The Apprenticeship Expansion Programme (AEP) is a pilot trial aiming to develop and support employers engaging in the delivery of apprenticeship programmes.
The National Skills Academy secured a £1.3 million bid from the Learning Skills Council to facilitate the delivery of an apprenticeship programme. We are currently working closely with Lifetime Health and Fitness in order to recruit 1,410 learners over a two year programme.
How will the programme be delivered?
The programme is targeting all learners undertaking a full Level 2 or Level 3 Apprenticeship course with Lifetime Health and Fitness. Upon completion of the learners classroom based section of the course, they will aim to secure either:
- 12-week voluntary placement
- Employment
The training allowance is payable for 12 weeks at £95 per week, which can be paid either to the learner or direct to an employer if the position is an employed role rather than a placement.
The criteria for applying onto the Apprenticeship Expansion Programme is as follows:
- Candidates must be aged 16-24 when beginning their course with Lifetime Health and Fitness
- Completion of maximum four week classroom based course with Lifetime Health and Fitness
- Secure a placement within a company and work a minimum of 16 hours a week
