A traditionally held perception of the world of sport is that it is only the star players and athletes who can make living from the industry. Of course the reality is that there are a myriad of career opportunities encompassing virtually every type, and that those star player and athletes represent just a tiny fraction of the big machine.

There are numerous opportunities for graduates in the Sport and active Leisure sector. Sports related degrees are now common at many universities, with many being vocationally orientated. However prospective graduates are still likely to need work experience in the sector when job hunting. Many of the larger fitness organisations are now running graduate trainee schemes, which provide direct entry into more senior management positions with training provided.
