Funding Opportunities
We are offering you the opportunity to gain qualifications across Health & Fitness and the Outdoors and receive 60% of the cost of the course back**.
If you live and/or work in the North West and are looking to start or improve your career then this is the programme for you.
There are a number of qualifications supported by this programme. All you have to do is decide which one suits you:
Perhaps you want to be a fitness instructor or personal trainer? Maybe you already are and want to specialise in training special populations? Download our course brochure for the full listings and the course schedule to see when courses are offered in your area.
Would you like to be qualified to lead sailing or climbing sessions? Maybe you're already an instructor and want to advance your skills.
Am I eligible for this programme?
- You must live and/or work in the North West
- Be aged 19+
- Be in either paid or voluntary employment (you must be paid if working in Health and Fitness)
- Your employer must also be eligible under the rules of state aid and must complete the De Minimus form.

'Get Qualified North West' is a funded programme helping individuals gain qualifications across the Sport, Outdoors and Health & Fitness sectors. It is a fantastic opportunity for you to receive real financial support for your training. This programme is also open for employers who have a group of staff who would benefit from upskilling.

North West Mentor Programme
In conjunction with the Get Qualified North West project, we are also running a North West Mentor Programme. The mentor scheme will recruit 300 coaches in sport from Get Qualified North West and provide them with support from a mentor. Coaches will gain:
- a personal development plan (PDP)
- an understanding of career pathways
- knowledge of relevant funding opportunities
- local opportunities through engagement with County Sport Partnerships
