The Centre of Excellence for Health and Fitness in the North West is awarded to a consortium of partners: Salford University, Trafford College and SHOKK. These three partners bring a unique combination of higher education, further education and commercial training provision to the region ensuring that the Centre of Excellence in the North West has a broad array of experiences and expertise in designing, developing and delivering training and qualifications across the whole spectrum of Health and Fitness.

As the appointed Centre of excellence for health and fitness, working collaboratively with Skills Active, the National Skills Academy experts, employers and the rest of the regions approved academy providers, the Salford Consortium will lead innovation in the industry across the region.

The University of Salford, established in 1896, is situated 1.5 miles from Manchester City centre. It provides the largest fitness related Higher Education training across Greater Manchester area supported by modern facilities including a 500m2 human performance laboratory, a dedicated centre for strength and conditioning and a wealth of staff expertise. The University has a real-world focus providing learning by concentrating on issues that directly affect people's daily lives using an array of traditional and bespoke training programmes. Our flexible approach means we are able to provide a solution to any training requirement including the opportunity to accredit your own programmes.
