The University of Cumbria delivers courses for the full spectrum of training provision required within the outdoor industry, ranging from hospitality and personal development, to business management and outdoor leadership. With campuses from London to Carlisle and specialist outdoor facilities based in and around the Lake District, it is an ideally situated provider.

For entry into the industry, the apprenticeships in outdoor education provide a valued and quality route for businesses to source the skills that they need. Apprentices develop skills while they learn, benefiting the employer and employee.

Technical courses that we offer include the High Ropes, Indoor Climbing and Bushcraft courses. These all provide the practitioner with the specialist skills and knowledge required by many outdoor providers, especially those offering a broader range of activities and provision.

Wider business skills and soft skills development is currently taking place.
